AI can draft the document. It can't tell you what your business is missing.

Why a lawyer, after AI

AI can help you research, draft, and build your business. But it doesn't know your business, your specific risks, or what it left out, and it can state the law confidently and wrongly.

At Lady Justus you get judgment, context, and accountability from a California-licensed attorney who takes the time to understand what you're building and what you need to protect.

Silicon Valley, online

Built where the technology is. Available wherever you are.

We work at the center of the tech industry, which means we see firsthand how AI, platforms, and online business are changing what intellectual property means for small companies and independent creators.

Because the practice is fully online, you get that perspective without commuting to an office: secure document sharing, e-signatures, and online meetings at times that work for you.

Common questions

Do I need to register a copyright?

No, copyright protection begins as soon as a work is fixed in a tangible form. But for U.S. works, you must register before you can file an infringement lawsuit, and registering early (before infringement, or within three months of publication) is what makes statutory damages and attorney's fees available.

Does forming an LLC protect my business name?

No, an LLC doesn't give you trademark rights. Registering an LLC with the California Secretary of State reserves the name as a corporate entity name only. It does not give you trademark rights or stop someone else from using a similar name for similar goods or services. A federal trademark registration does that.

Can I copyright something I made with AI?

Only the parts a human authored can be protected. The U.S. Copyright Office's position is that material generated entirely by AI is not protected by copyright, but your own creative contributions, such as your selection, arrangement, and edits, can be. You must disclose AI-generated content when you register.
